everything you need to know before your boudoir shoot

Boudoir 101

See yourself in a different light. We’re wives, moms, girlfriends, employees, daughters, friends…and we often find ourselves feeling stuck in these roles of being everything to everyone. Boudoir photos will show your most authentic, gorgeous self – the way others see you but how you fail to see yourself.

9 reasons why you need to do a boudoir shoot

1

Commemorate your 20s…or 30s…or 40s…or 50s… Every decade of life offers something new to discover about yourself that you’ll want to remember. And there is a special kind of beauty and confidence that only comes with age, so don’t you dare think you’re too old.

2

Some of my clients do an annual photo session to mark their life’s journey, but for others, this is a once in a lifetime investment. Give yourself this gift.

You need a reason to wear that lingerie you’ve got sitting in a drawer. Just for an afternoon, trade in your yoga pants, your mom uniform, your work clothes for something fun and sexy.

Help yourself heal. You’ve survived whatever struggle or loss life threw at you, and you’re a stronger person for it. Celebrating you and what you’ve been through is an important step in the healing process.

You are perfect now. Not 20 pounds thinner or 10 years younger or three kids less stressed out. Now.

It’s the most personal, intimate gift you can give yourself or your partner, who loves you exactly the way you are.

7

You will leave the shoot feeling empowered, with a new love and appreciation for your body and who you are as a strong woman.

Because you are enough.

DO cut out all tags from your clothing options including the launder instructions inside the garmet (little white tags w/ care instructions)

DO bring along at least one cute pair of panties or a bra/undies set that makes you feel super sexy and fits your body type.  (Consider high waisted undies, corset belt, or bodysuit options if tummy is area of concern.)

DON’T wear anything that is too small and digs into your skin or creates the dreaded “muffin top.” And don't wear anything too tight to the skin or socks hours before your shoot so it doesn't dig into your skin.

DO consider normal clothing if you dont want to be too revealing, such as off the shoulder tees, cardigans, tanktops, a fitted button-up shirt, or a high slit skirt/dress. Many of these items can be paired with cute undergarments to make a very sexy (but less skimpy) outfit.

DO remember that sometimes no outfit can be the best outfit. Some of our favorite images were photos taken when our client wasn’t wearing anything clothing-related, and simply covered up with a white sheet, towel, pillow, or a prop (sheet & furs provided in studio).

DON’T feel like you have to drop a ton of money on new items for your shoot. Although it can be nice to have one really elaborate piece of lingerie, we can create stunning images with the items you already have in your closet and affordable pieces from amazon.
Look through your closet for any see through blouses, bodysuits, cropped tops can be cute paired with some undies.

Lastly, don't think too hard about it and have fun!!!!

But, what the heck do I wear?

"Each and every one of us has insecurities. We spend so much of our energy focusing on the things we dislike about ourselves instead of the things we love....boudoir offers self-confidence, freedom, and a retraining of your brain that you are beautiful just the way you are! "
